There is a well-known thing in Canada, most newcomers do, which is changing their careers. A new immigrant might be a teacher and become a designer here in Canada. Or a butcher to a plumber, or a doctor to a teacher, and so on. Behind this, there are many reasons. Also, a common know issue is that some of the majors are regulated, and need to be certified. Having a certification in that particular major will require studying and doing exams. Therefore, spending more money on education and not all newcomers are able to spend money or time.
In my opinion, in the first year of landing, a newcomer will face challenges to work in his field. Even if this individual was lucky it will be hard for him to find the same title in his job as his previous one.
The path that I recommend is to find a job to start with in order to get the Canadian experience and that might be changing careers in Canada. I am not informing you to work as a waiter if you were a doctor. But a doctor’s assistant might be a good idea to start with.
