Girl Interrupted is such a waste of lesbian scenes potential. In the 1960s, in a mental institution, why-no-nahhh finds special women surrounding her, each one with a deep-rooted mental illness. Although Angelina stole the lights, I cannot seem to get over the room with the chicken in the film. Not that I crave chicken but they were roasted and lost, talk about fascism! Without further ado here’s the plot:
Susanna, meaning lotus flower, introduces the rebirth of a young woman and her standing between two ways, reality, and the mental institution. Many people help her go through the journey of deciding to face the world by facing her own self. She has many faces in the film with beautiful actresses each of whom represents a symptom, a syndrome, or a mental illness. Transforming the film into a jungle of emotions and performances where chickens stand out. Susanna just wanted a normal life. Where she could order in a coffee shop without being interrupted… After all, all she wanted was her coffee…with the chicken, please.
