If you are landing in Montreal Airport and asking how to go to Ottawa; this article is for you.

The first thing you must know, is that Uber does not accept cash. The only way to book an Uber is via the app or online and you must e-pay. There are different taxi companies here in Canada and some mobile apps while others don’t. And after 2 months here in Canada, I can assure you that all the taxis are taking approximately the same fees as Uber.

If we go online to estimate the cost of an Uber drive from Montreal Airport to downtown Ottawa we see the price is $276. Of course, the currency is in USD, meaning the price is around 370CAD.

Uber Estimation

What you must know, is that this is not a fixed price. The taxi/ Uber prices here always vary, and this is a normal car, which can handle approximately 2 travel bags.

Therefore, a simple 2h drive from Montreal to Ottawa might cost you around 400CAD.

Is that a good choice to do? Is there an alternative?

Some people suggested traveling by plane. Research on the Kayak website will show that this is more expensive and time-consuming. Expensive because it will cost around 1000CAD for 1 passenger only. Also, the process will take too much time, from the paper process at Montreal airport, then traveling to Ottawa, taking the baggage and leaving, and then ordering a taxi again to go to your destination.

Among all that, a piece of good information to know is that Canada offers good public transportation, some of them are the train and buses. And those two options, we still didn’t tackle.

The only bus that will take you from the Montreal airport to Ottawa is Orlean Express. Someone took it, very comfy, it offers free wifi and drops you in Ottawa via rail station only. It is not like any ordinary bus, Orlean Express will pick you up from Montreal airport and drive directly to Ottawa without stopping.

Orlean Express

Finally, the train travel cost is around $45. $5 difference between the train and the Orlean express. But the train has more classes and of course, the business class will cost more. But the uncovered thing is that you need to book a taxi and go to Dorval. The train is not near Montreal Airport like The Orlean Express bus. Plus, the train will drop you in Ottawa via rail station, so you need another taxi to do to your destination.

Via Rail

In conclusion, it depends on your situation. I hope that information will help you.
